Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens – Review

Running time: 2 hours 16 minutes

Content: Moderate violence/Treat

Certificate: 12A

Needless to say that this is one of if not the most anticipated movie of last year! The question on everybody’s lips was would this movie live up to the hype that has been surrounding the movie, cast and director for months at a time? Will the new director be able to control the reigns of dare I say it the most loved movie franchise that’s ever existed. No matter what words you use and attempt to string them together will you ever be able to capture the essence of how much pressure – anyone involved in this project was under!

Being born in the late 90s I always felt I’m on the outside looking in when it comes to the Star Wars, I love my generation. I can’t help but feel I’m an old soul should that belongs to a different generation the 70s/80s.

Back to the present day, the force has been awakened and nothing on this earth and universe could stop it. “There’s been an awakening. Have you felt it?” – Supreme Leader Snoke. Can you believe that this is the seventh movie, in the Star Wars saga and is the first in a trio of movies that will be directed – by the amazing J.J Abrams. This movie was directed, produced and co-written by the following: J.J Abrams, Lawerence Kasdan, and Michael Arndt. The production company that was in charge of this massive feature length film was Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy as well as bad robot productions.

The movie stars actors and actresses once again stepping into easily their most recognisable roles. Such as the return of Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Kenny Baker. As well as actors that are new to the silver screen in this franchise Adam Driver,John Boyega and Oscar Isaac as well as many others.

If you have seen the movies previously or are new to this then you would be happy to be reminded of the following: This movie is set exactly 30 years after after the pulse quickening events of Star Wars: Episode VI – Return of the Jedi. The first order are the define toy the new kids in the block, they have risen like a Phoenix from the ashes of the Galactic Empire. As we know have always been opposed to General Leia Organa who is very much a part of the resistance both parties are aiming to find Jedi Luke Skywalker. This movie is action packed full of scenes that will literally transport you to another place in time, galaxies you haven’t dared imagine.

New heroes have popped onto the scene and could quite probably give the old ones a run for there money – in my humble opinion. First and for most we have Rey, she an independent woman who is a scavenger by trade. She seems to have a connection to the force although she doesn’t know it and is unable to control it yet.

Finn is a storm trooper who has committed the ultimate betrayal, he quickly formed a conscience and left the first order and bumps into Poe Dameron, easily the best pilot any where! They are assisted by the one and only Hans Solo whois helping the crew with him track down the famous Luke Skywalker who many have disregarded as a myth. Where there heroes they are always villains.

In this film the villian we all love to hate is Kylo Ren, he has a very dark and interesting past; not forgetting General Hux the chief commander of the Starkiller base. This films story will continue on a cinema screen near you in these movies; Star Wars Episode VIII [Currently untitled] and Star Wars Episode IX on the 26th of May 2017 and 2019.
