Freida McFadden is an American thriller author and The Housemaid was published in 2022 and is the first of three books in a psychological thriller series. I throughly enjoyed this book, so much so that I was able to read the entire first book in just under a week. The pace of the book was my favourite part, it was quite fast and the twists and turns simply put you just did not see coming.

The first book is centred around the Winchester family and their housemaid, who on the surface seems like she is very attentive and amazing at her job. But underneath this facade is everything as it seems?Wilhelmina “Millie” Calloway is smart, clever and almost always is able to get what she wants. But she is hiding a big secret. As the novel unfolds, you begin to understand that Millie isn’t as soft and naive as she may seem.

I really enjoyed this book and over all I think that it was very well written. The only thing that I would change would be that some of the plot points of the book were unnecessary. Disrupting the pace of an otherwise amazing book. I have also read the second book in the series, The Housemaid’s Secret and I am currently reading the third book The Housemaid is Watching.
