Top Gun Maverick – Film Review

On Sunday evening I took a trip to the cinema to watch Top Gun Maverick. There is nothing better than watching a film on the silver screen, popcorn in hand. I went into the film with no knowledge of the previous film (shameful I know) but with an open mind.

This long anticipated sequel landed onto our screens a whopping three decades after the original directed by the late Tony Scott. Joseph Kosinski directed this adrenaline fuelled adventure.

With over 30 years of experience and acts of service Pete “Maverick” Mitchell (Tom Cruise) is definitely where he belongs. He has established himself as one of the Navy’s best avaiators. Tasked with a mission that seems like an absolute long short Maverick steps into a different role. He is faced with a group of potential recruits including Lt. Bradley “Rooster” Bradshaw (Miles Teller) isn’t he just the best), the son of “Goose” who’s death seriously affected and haunted Maverick. Rooster’s natural negative feelings towards Maverick manifests in various ways. Will they be able to work together to come against a common enemy.

The action sequences are decently a highlight from the low altitude shots to the airborne dogfights. Reportedly, all the scenes with flying the cast had to be trained in a process to baffling to put into words.

If you are looking for an action film with funny moments Top Gun Maverick may be exactly what you are looking for!

Available to watch in cinemas from the 27th of May.
