How Do You Like Me Now? – Holly Bourne – Book Review

This is debut novel written by a very popular young adult writer who’s books I am familiar with so this seemed like a perfect fit. Holly takes the reader to a very real account of Tori Bailey’s long-term relationship with her boyfriend Tom while balancing the high and low of life in your thirties and running a successful blog. It’s very rare in fiction (and quite possibly in real life for that matter) to find characters that can be very openly honest about the difficulties that can be thrown their way. This realness weaved through the novel makes it such a pleasure to read.

Tackling topical issues with a tender yet firm grasp on the reality of what it feels like to suffer from these issues deserves much praise. Also it didn’t feel as though this was landed in the book to shock the audience or to fit in with the current topics in people minds. It was written with a perspective that made it feel as if you were in the position of Tori perhaps this is how I would of acted. Empathy is not an easy emotion to evoke especially in text. Loved it from beginning to end highly recommend.

What I have personally noticed with Holly Bourne Books is that while some pages can be uncomfortable to read others are such a Joy and I have never known reading to give me such a feeling!
